SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) -- The local dirt track racing season is still four months away, but parts of the sport will be on full display Saturday in Sioux Falls. The race is on to fill the Expo Building with hundreds of vendors in advance of Saturday's Race and Hi-Performance Swap Meet. It's a popular event among race fans and drivers. SDSU officials: Quick response needed to hire Jackson "If they're going to change classes or move up from a smaller class to a larger class they can sell to somebody starting out, it gives them a chance to maybe get into it a little cheaper," event promoter Bill Lev said. The annual winter get-together will feature 350 booths, with items ranging from tires to tools to toys. "You can buy model cars, diecast cars, you can buy t-shirts. We have a few lady vendors that we have that sell like mugs. Pretty good variety, mostly related to the used and new race parts," Lev said. "We specialize in used race car parts and we also sell new race car parts as well. We primarily focus on dirt track racing parts, but we venture out to drag racing, etcetera," X Factor Motorsports owner Matthew Lance said. Lance owns X Factor Motorsports in Savannah, Missouri, and has been making the trip to Sioux Falls every January for about seven years. "This event attracts more people from all over the country than you can actually imagine. We travel to ten to fifteen of these shows every single year and this is probably one of the biggest ones," Lance said. And after four decades of organizing the swap meet, Lev says it never gets old. "This is the most fun week of the year. Today's probably the most stressful, getting everybody set up and in here and stuff like that, but yeah it's one of my favorite weekends," Lev said. The swap meet runs from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Expo Building. Admission is $8. Kids age 12-and-under are free.
