NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – Freezing mist is occurring in some of the northern valleys to the Rio Grande Valley through the Mimbres Valley to the Pecos River Valley with snow on the ground for some, allowing for the clearing skies above, lightening winds, and drier air above the still humid surface to allow for some of the lowest temperatures so far this season, but not as dangerous wind chills. On the tail end of the fast-moving departing storm system moving through the Eastern United States, while northeasterly winds have been making it feel like -10 to -20 degrees for now fewer Enchanted Circle areas, the stronger winds to the south, while lightening up as well, are still making it feel colder out there for some. With the low pressure well to the east of New Mexico with the calming conditions across the region to start from north-northwest to south-southeast, air temperatures are as low as around -10 in the Taos Ski Valley, around either side of zero degrees from the San Luis Valley through the North-Central Mountains to western New Mexico, but mostly in the upper single digits, teens, and lower 20s elsewhere. Other than clouds increasing in the Four Corners later today, some low-level clouds and some wispy clouds will break up or mostly depart to the southeast in the Land of Enchantment later on, allowing for mostly slightly higher temperatures today with the drier air. Below-normal temperatures will persist for most, except for the still seasonable afternoon temperatures to the northwest. From the morning school commute throughout the afternoon, temperatures will reach into the high teens, 20s, 30s, and low 40s east-northeast to west-southwest. An eventual warming trend with drier westerly winds will briefly return later tomorrow before another brief storm impacts the San Juan Mountain areas then the Sangre de Cristo mountain communities to the East Highlands with briefly colder air later this weekend.
