AUSTIN (KXAN) -- A portion of Research Boulevard in northwest Austin was closed Friday morning after a deadly crash. The Texas Department of Transportation posted an alert just before 6 a.m. that all lanes were closed on the northbound frontage road of U.S. 183, also called Research Boulevard, at Duval Road. The Austin Police Department said a man died overnight in a single-vehicle crash after hitting a barrier in the area. Police said the man was pronounced dead on the scene around 1 a.m., but the investigation was delayed into the morning due to rain.
