POWELL, Ohio (WCMH) – A patriotic pub in Powell recently closed its doors after over 17 years in business, making way for a restaurant serving wood-fired pizza and craft cocktails to take over the location.
Elliot’s Wood Fired Kitchen and Tap, which has locations in Newark, Pataskala and New Albany, revealed this week it will open its fourth restaurant at 50 S. Liberty St. in Powell. Co-owner Andre Sarap said the new eatery will open in early spring.

The Powell address was previously home to Liberty Tavern, which closed in December after over 17 years of business. The American-themed eatery still has a location at 2179 Polaris Parkway that opened in June. Orange Umbrella Restaurants, the group that owns Liberty Tavern, could not be reached to answer why the Powell location shuttered.
Along with pizza, Elliot’s serves wings, Bavarian pretzels, salad, subs, tacos, smash burgers and alcoholic beverages, including wine, beer and cocktails.
