MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Snowfall will intensify overnight and remain heavy at times through Friday morning. It will gradually taper off from west to east Friday afternoon. We’re still on track for a large swath of 5-7”+ along the I-40 corridor down into northern Mississippi, especially for areas closer to the state line. Deeper into northern Mississippi there’s likely to be some periods of sleet, freezing rain, and possibly even straight rain. This will eat into snowfall totals a bit, and it will be more and more apparent the farther south you go. Check the latest forecasts from WREG Weather Travel will be hazardous regardless of how much snow you recieve, so please stay home unless absolutely necessary. This will be a heavy, wet snow which could lead to sporadic power outages. Our team of weather experts has you covered every step of the way, and we’re planning on extended coverage for you all day Friday on WREG.
