Photo: South Carolina Department of Education COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO) —-  We are learning new information about the PowerSchool data breach that may have exposed millions of students personal information. Thursday night the South Carolina Department of Education released new details saying they have been able to hone in on the school district’s impacted by the breach. PowerSchool is  an online educational portal for students, parents and teachers to discuss an individuals students’ needs, including grades, class schedules and even school payments. The Department of Education says PowerSchool says has provided a list of the districts where student information has been identified as having been accessed. The Department also notes,  just because a students information was breached does not necessarily but mean personal data was taken. According to SCDE, several school districts are now working with the state District Data Governance Group to determine the full scope of the incident. More specifically, if information was taken due to unauthorized access, and the best course of action moving forward. The Department of Education says PowerSchool has also been able to determine the only schools in South Carolina not impacted by the data breach are Edgefield County, Greenville County, Horry County and Richland County School District Two.
