Virginia Department of Transportation crews prepare Richmond area roads for next winter storm

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Following the winter storm that impacted Central Virginia over the weekend, crews with the Virginia Department of Transportation are preparing Richmond area roads for another winter storm expected this weekend.
According to a post to social media by the department at 9:21 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 9, crews began preparing for the expected winter storm on Wednesday, Jan. 8.
"Crews have been busy making brine and pre-treating roadways," the post said.
The department reminded drivers to be alert for its mobile road treatment crews and to give trucks space to work safely.
