BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Jack Quinn scored twice in the first period to propel the Sabres to their second straight victory, 4-0 on the road against the Ottawa Senators on Thursday night. Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen made 35 saves in his second shutout win of the season. It's the most saves Luukkonen has made in any of his seven career shutouts, tying Bob Sauve for the seventh-most in franchise history. Ryan McLeod added a goal and two assists, and Dylan Cozens also scored for the Sabres, who are now 5-2-1 since ending their 13-game winless streak. 4 check: Sabres at midseason, still last in the East, but not of it out yet Quinn, an Ottawa native who had not yet scored against his hometown in seven previous games, put the Sabres ahead with a wrist shot on the rush 10:17 into the game. Three minutes later, after serving his second penalty of the period, Quinn skated out of the box to score his seventh of the season on a breakaway. Anton Forsberg stopped 17 shots for Ottawa. The Senators returned to the Canadian Tire Centre after a nine-game trip and nearly a month away because of the world junior hockey championship. Buffalo returns home to face the Seattle Kraken on Saturday.
