HONOLULU (KHON2) -- The Honolulu Film Office announced that there will be lane closures in Chinatown this Sunday, January 12, as part of an ongoing film production. Beretania Street to the west and River Street to the east, along the makai side of ʻAala Park, will be reduced to one lane. Drivers are encouraged to avoid the area and use Beretania Street as a detour. The cross streets of River, Maunakea, Smith, Nuuanu, and Bethel will remain open, so drivers can still cross N. King Street in both directions. The bus lane will also stay open throughout the closure. Motorists warned of increased traffic as UH students return for semester Film crews will be conducting intermittent traffic control on the open travel lane and bus lane for up to three minutes at a time between 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. After 10 p.m., traffic holds will increase, lasting up to 10 minutes. Motorists should expect delays and are advised to take alternate routes if possible. This film production marks the first major project to film on Oahu in 2025.
