MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCBD) – A bridge that connects Mount Pleasant and Sullivan's Island has reopened to traffic Thursday after it experienced a malfunction. Sullivan's Island town officials said the Ben Sawyer Bridge was stuck in the open position and that officers were working to fix the problem. Mount Pleasant police said the bridge was operational at 11:11 a.m. The roadway was blocked during the closure, and traffic was re-directed to the Isle of Palms Connector.
