From watching music and dance performances, to making your own artworks, there’s plenty of fun to be had in Baltimore this weekend.Check it all out in our weekend events roundup:Dancing with the Stars, Thursday, Jan. 9, doors open at 6:30 p.m., event begins at 7:30 p.m., Lyric Baltimore. The “Dancing with the Stars” tour is coming to Baltimore. DWTS competitor and Olympic gymnast Stephen Nedoroscik (a.k.a. “Pommel Horse Guy”) will co-host as fellow DWTS cast members perform.Heyward and The Planets, Thursday, Jan. 9, and Sunday, Jan. 12, Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall. Enjoy a celestial concert by the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. Under the direction of conductor and Music Director Jonathan Heyward, the BSO will perform with saxophonist Jess Gillam and the Baltimore Choral Arts Society women’s chorus.Hopkins Ice Rink, Friday, Jan. 10, through Sunday, Jan. 12, parking lot next to Johns Hopkins University’s Imagine Center for Integrative Learning and Life Design, 113 West University Parkway. Johns Hopkins University’s ice rink opens Jan. 10 and will remain open through Feb. 23. Hopkins faculty, staff and students can skate during weekday sessions; meanwhile, both Hopkins affiliates and the general public can skate during weekend sessions. Transdisciplinary artist HOPE McCorkle will lead a self-portrait workshop, including collage and journaling. The workshop is inspired by McCorkle’s recent solo exhibition “dancing with my shadows: a journey to self-discovery” at the Creative Alliance.Zine Making Workshop, Saturday, Jan. 11, 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., BMA Lexington Market. Art activist and designer Jen White-Johnson will lead a workshop for participants to make their own zine will discussing acceptance, accessibility, and disability justice.Nerd Prom: Snow Ball ’84, Saturday, Jan. 11, 8 p.m., Baltimore Soundstage.
