Jan 08, 2025
BISMARCK, ND (KXNET) — A new financial literacy resource is now available to students and teachers across North Dakota. SmartWithMyMoney.nd.gov, accessible through the ND Education Portal on PowerSchool, offers tools to support personal finance education.
The free platform, supported by the State of North Dakota, helps users understand how their financial decisions are influenced by personal behaviors. It covers both the educational and behavioral aspects of money management.
Students can use the website independently, while teachers can integrate it into classroom lessons. The platform includes 34 financial literacy courses, over 120 related topics, and more than 2,800 pieces of content, such as articles, videos, and tools.

SmartWithMyMoney.nd.gov has shown positive results. During the COVID-19 pandemic, 32% of users reported less financial stress. 59% built an emergency fund that covered three months of expenses, and 28% paid off their credit card balances in full each month.
The platform is part of the “Smart with My Money” initiative, which was launched in April 2024 by Governor Doug Burgum and leaders from 11 state agencies.
“Smart with My Money will benefit not only students but also adults, parents, and anyone wanting to improve their financial knowledge,” said Davonne Eldredge, Assistant Director of Academic Support at the North Dakota Department of Public Instruction.
The goal is to make North Dakota the most financially literate state by 2027.
