NORTHEAST KANSAS (KSNT) - Some schools in northeast Kansas will remain closed for the fourth consecutive day this week after a major snowstorm hit the area. Several districts in northeast Kansas have announced closures or delayed starts for students for Thursday, Jan. 9 following a blizzard on Jan. 5 that left more than 10 inches of snow in some areas. School districts which have announced closures and delays so far include the following: Closed USD 342 - McLouth. USD 475 - Geary County. USD 501 - Topeka. USD 473 - Chapman. USD 481 - Rural Vista. USD 417 - Morris County. USD 341 - Oskaloosa Public Schools. USD 437 - Auburn-Washburn. Delayed opening USD 345 - LeRoy-Gridley. USD 340 - Jefferson West. USD 348 - Baldwin City. USD 383 - Manhattan-Ogden. USD 329 - Wabaunsee. USD 251 - North Lyon County. USD 345 - Seaman. USD 378 - Riley County. USD 435 - Abilene. USD 338 - Valley Falls. USD 322 - Onaga-Havensville-Wheaton. USD 321 - Kaw Valley. USD 343 - Perry-Lecompton. Major change to daylight saving time in Kansas could come in 2025, what to know The National Weather Service (NWS) has also issued a winter weather advisory from 3 p.m. on Jan. 9 to 6 a.m. on Jan. 10 for some parts of northeast Kansas. Residents can except accumulations of snow between one and three inches and hazardous traveling conditions.
