Milwaukee PD stated on January 8 at 11:23 a.m. that the suspect, later identified as a 14-year-old boy, was arrested.
"Please know your actions have consequences," Milwaukee PD's Facebook post began.
Officers say that criminal charges will be referred to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office.
Earlier on Wednesday, around 10:30 a.m., the Pulaski Community School District provided the updated statement below after increasing security at Pulaski High School out of an abundance of caution. An original message was sent to families just before 9 p.m. on January 7.
Last evening, Jan. 7, an Instagram post sent to four Pulaski High School Instagram accounts was flagged as a potential threat. After an investigation with the Village of Pulaski Police Department, Pulaski Community School District SROs and district personnel, the message has been deemed to not be a credible threat. The message was not directed at a particular school. The message indicated that there would be violence, and instructed people not to show up for classes. School Resource Officer Hunter Micolichek and Chief Kurt Kitzman, along with school personnel, reviewed the message, the profile from which the message was sent, and followers of the profile’s account. They determined that the message was a facetious and fictitious communication meant to deceive or elicit a response. The account in question did not have any personal posts or photos and was entirely followed by “burner” or “spoof" accounts. The account is believed to originate from the Milwaukee area. It is hard to decipher a true motivation behind the message, but the evidence showed that there was an extremely low probability of danger to PCSD students. In an abundance of caution, all three PCSD school resource officers and members of the district’s administration team were at Pulaski High School this morning, and plan to be on the campus this afternoon. Law enforcement continues to monitor this matter. Student safety is the number one priority within the Pulaski Community School District, and immediate action is taken on any threat made to our students or schools with assistance from local law enforcement agencies. Students should feel comfortable coming to school and confident in their safety. It’s important to know that students who make threats, even in jest, are subject to very serious consequences.
