CASS COUNTY, Ind. — The Indiana State Police arrested an Ohio man on Monday after he reportedly led police on a pursuit in a stolen vehicle.
According to ISP, a trooper was patrolling the area of US 25 and US 35 in Logansport, Ind., shortly after noon on Monday. The trooper was attempting to locate a 2017 gray Toyota passenger vehicle that was reported stolen out of Ohio.
That trooper located the vehicle after it disregarded a stop sign. ISP wrote the driver then led police on a pursuit through Cass County, at speeds nearly reaching 100 mph.
Police said the pursuit continued into Lincoln. There, the vehicle stopped behind a residence, and the driver — later identified as 33-year-old Ohio resident Robert M. Jones — exited the vehicle.
Per ISP, Jones then discarded a knife and fled on foot. He was caught shortly thereafter and taken into custody without incident.
Jones now faces the following preliminary charges:
Resisting law enforcement (Level 6 Felony)
Possession of a stolen vehicle (Level 6 Felony)
Criminal recklessness (Class B Misdemeanor)
Operator never licensed (Class C Misdemeanor)
Reckless driving (Class C Misdemeanor)
A mugshot for Jones was not provided.
