TOPEKA (KSNT) - Midland Care Meals on Wheels will be closed for another day after a blizzard blanketed much of the Midwest. Midland Care announced on Wednesday, Jan. 8 in a social media post that it made the decision to close out of concern for staff, volunteers and the community. Midland Care has been closed since Sunday, Jan. 6. "The ongoing frigid temperatures and hazardous road conditions across northeast Kansas make travel unsafe," Midland Care wrote on social media. "We encourage everyone to stay indoors, stay warm, and take precautions during this extreme weather." Could Kansans see another natural gas price spike? Midland Care serves older adults who are housebound in Shawnee, Jefferson and Douglas counties. To see if you're eligible for the Meals on Wheels program, click here.
