Dine 909: These 2 Mexican food restaurants are coming soon to the Inland Empire
Jan 08, 2025
Two new Inland Empire Mexican food restaurants appear nearly ready to open.
In San Bernardino, a new building has gone up where Mario’s Italian Delicatessen once was, 2858 N. Del Rosa Ave.
Before signage went up on the building, I was convinced it was going to be another Starbucks, but it turned out to be a new Albertaco’s Mexican Food.
The chain has two other San Bernardino locations, as well as ones in Moreno Valley and Riverside.
Over in Riverside, a former Wienerschnitzel location has been transformed into a taco shop.
Casa Tacos will be at 6247 Day St.
The restaurant’s Instagram bio indicates it will specialize in tacos al carbón.
New in Rialto
A new bakery has opened in downtown Rialto.
Sweet Tooth 909 offers an assortment of pastries, including croissants, cinnamon rolls, cookies, brownies, Danishes, muffins, tarts and more.
Hours are 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m. (or sellout) Tuesday through Saturday.
Sweet Tooth 909 is at 203 S. Riverside Ave., Suite 200.
Thanks to reader Phillip for the tip.
Deaux After Dark returns
Gourmet doughnut shop Deaux is hosting another Deaux After Dark event this week.
The event will take place beginning at 9 p.m. Friday, Jan. 10, until the shop sells out.
The event will feature a twice-baked pineapple alfajore doughnut: yeast dough, stuffed with a house-made dulce de leche caramel frangipane and roasted pineapple, baked, and then drizzled with more dulce de leche caramel.
It’s meant to evoke an alfajor, a type of cookie with Middle-Eastern origins that is popular in several Spanish-speaking countries.
Deaux is at 501 E Citrus Ave., Suite D, Redlands.
Meal deal redux
At least two fast-food chains are offering new meal deals.
Jack in the Box has a meal deal that’s good for breakfast or lunch.
The $6 All Day Big Deal Meal includes a sandwich, two sides and a small drink.
Sandwich options include a Double Jr. Jumbo Jack with cheeseburger, a Jr. Bacon Cheeseburger, a Jr. Chicken sandwich and a Supreme Croissant.
Sides include curly or French fries, hash browns, five-piece Tiny Tacos and four-piece chicken nuggets.
Drink options include small soft drinks and a regular hot coffee.

Get free Frostys
Want free Frostys at Wendy’s for the rest of 2025?
All you need to do is head to Wendy’s and purchase a Frosty Key Tag for $3.
Then, just show the key tag whenever you order at Wendy’s and you’ll receive a Jr. Frosty for free.
As in recent years, there’s also a digital equivalent to the physical tags in the Wendy’s app.
Your tag purchase goes to help find permanent homes for foster kids.
A full 90% of proceeds will benefit the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption, an organization dedicated to finding permanent homes for kids in foster care.
Correction
I botched the address of the new Indian food restaurant in Redlands, Beyond Biryani, in last week’s column.
It’s at 11221 California St.
