HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — A Loris golf course on Tuesday agreed to pay more than $450,000 to settle a wrongful death suit stemming from a 2023 crash involving a 90-year-old man.
Court records show that Diamondback Golf Course LLC agreed Monday to a $475,000 payout to the estate of Austin Gormley, who died on Dec. 6, 2023 — six weeks after sustaining multiple pelvic fractures and a closed head injury resulting from the collision of two golf carts, one driven by a course employee.
Gormley died one day after his 90th birthday, according to his obituary. Diamondback Golf Club at Woodland Valley is located at 615 Log Cabin Road in Loris.
