(KRON) -- Meta founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg rings in the new year with several major personnel announcements. Three high-profile individuals have been named to join Meta's board of directors, including one of the most prominent figures in sports. UFC President and CEO Dana White, Exor CEO John Elkann and tech investor Charlie Song have joined Meta's board of directors, Zuckerberg announced Monday on Facebook, the company he founded in 2004. "I look forward to working with Dana, Charlie, and John. 2025 is going to be a big year for Meta and I'm excited to have them on board!" said Zuckerberg, whose company owns Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and Threads. "I've admired him as an entrepreneur and his ability to build such a beloved brand," White is known for his work that has built the UFC into one of the most popular and valuable sports companies in the world -- turning a niche sport, mixed martial arts, into a mainstream one. "I love social media. And I'm excited to be a small part of the future of AI and emerging technologies," White wrote on X. "I am a huge believer that social media and AI are the future..." White has been known as one of President-elect Donald Trump's biggest allies. Trump has been seen at many UFC events throughout the years. The billionaire is also the owner of X, formerly known as Twitter. Elkann is also the chairman of Exor's auto portfolio companies, Stellantis and Ferrari. According to Zuckerberg, Songhurst previously led strategy teams at Microsoft. Meta is headquartered in the Bay Area at Meno Park.
