The “Federal Snow Day” cocktail at Show of Hands on Capitol Hill. | The Roost
Where to find a discounted hot toddy, parties for parents, all-day happy hours, free coffee, and more D.C. woke up to a winter wonderland today. With a foot of flakes expected to accumulate through tonight, this ranks among the region’s top-five biggest snowstorms in 25 years.
Schools and federal offices are closed, and D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser officially declared today a snow emergency. The D.C. Snowball Fight Association (DCSFA) — a thing since 2010 — hosts its first major face-off in years at Meridian Hill Park at 11 a.m.
Many restaurants and bars also lure locals out of the house today with discounts. For those of us who didn’t bother to battle grocery store and Costco lines on Sunday, there are many snow day dining deals to be had.
