Summit County Sheriff’s Office looking for owners of found and seized property

The Summit County Sheriff’s Office is trying to reach the owners of property in its custody by Jan. 20, when it will dispose of the items.The office’s evidence unit said it is currently in possession of found property and property that was seized as evidence for cases that have since been adjudicated or closed. At this point, the unit either doesn’t know the legal owners of these items, or the owners have failed to respond to the Sheriff’s Office’s reasonable attempts to contact them. These items include but are not limited to electronics, wallets/purses, jewelry, cash, tools, firearms and bicycles.If you believe that you may have property in the custody of the Summit County Sheriff’s Office, please contact the evidence custodian at 435-615-3671. Proof of ownership, as well as verification of eligibility to possess the unclaimed property, will be required. Property not claimed within two weeks of this notice, dated Jan. 5, will be disposed of pursuant to Utah State law.
