Government offices close in Central Virginia during winter storm

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- A winter storm seen throughout Central Virginia Monday morning has caused many government offices and buildings to close. 8News has compiled a list to help keep residents in the loop.
Richmond
According to the City of Richmond, all non-essential city offices will be closed on Monday, Jan. 6 due to inclement weather. Essential personnel are to work as scheduled.
Henrico County
Henrico County general government offices and facilities, as well as county courts and clerks’ offices, will be closed on Monday, Jan. 6, due to inclement weather, according to a post on social media by the county.
A county spokesperson added that trash will not be picked up on Monday. If weather allows, service will resume Tuesday with routes on a one-day delay through the week.
The Springfield Road and Charles City Road public use areas will also be closed Monday.
Chesterfield County
Chesterfield County buildings, courts, and convenience centers will be closed Monday, Jan. 6, according to the county. However, some county services are available virtually.
Hanover County
According to Hanover County, its government offices, courts and solid waste convenience centers will be closed on Monday, Jan. 6, due to winter weather.
The closure includes all courts and clerk’s offices, county Parks and Recreation facilities and Hanover County branches of the Pamunkey Regional Library.
The Voter Registration and Elections Office will open at 10 a.m. on Monday, the county said.
Petersburg
Petersburg government offices, Petersburg Circuit Court and Clerk of Court will be closed on Monday, Jan. 6, according to the city.
There will be no trash collection on Monday, Jan. 6, the city said, adding that trash collection will be a day behind during the week.
The city has asked citizens to stay off the roads if possible to allow road crews to clear streets. Residents were also asked to use off-street parking when available.
Hopewell
The City of Hopewell will be closed Monday, Jan. 6, due to the inclement weather, according to an announcement on social media by the city.
The city said government and constitutional offices will be closed, though essential employees with Hopewell Fire/EMS, the Hopewell Police Department and the city's Department of Public Works will report to work as scheduled.
Trash will not be picked up on Monday, and Monday's routes will instead resume on Tuesday, Jan. 7. Trash pickup will be delayed by one day all week, with Friday routes collected on Saturday, according to the city.
Colonial Heights
Colonial Heights government offices, including the Colonial Heights Courthouse, will be closed Monday, Jan, 6 due to inclement weather, according to the city.
The city added that employees who are normally required to report during weather closures will report according to their department assignments.
Prince George
Due to inclement weather, Prince George County said all county government offices will be closed on Monday, Jan. 6.
Weather permitting, the county said it will reopen at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 7.
