ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (WROC) — With the Broncos taking care of business and beating the Chiefs 38-0 in Week 18, Denver has earned a trip to Highmark Stadium to play the Buffalo Bills in the Wild Card round of the playoffs. The game will be played on Sunday, January 12th at 1:00 p.m. The game will be broadcast on CBS, locally in Rochester on WROC. The Bills earned the second seed in the AFC and rested most of their starters against the Patriots, falling 23-16 in their finale. The Chiefs also did not have anything to play for this week, as they benched Patrick Mahomes and several other starters in their shutout loss. The Broncos lost their first two games of the season, with rookie quarterback Bo Nix struggling mightily in those two games. But head coach Sean Payton led his team to three wins after that to turn the season around. The Broncos also won four straight games to move from 5-5 to 9-5 to strengthen their playoff chances. Nix finished the regular season with 3,775 passing yards, 29 passing touchdowns, 12 interceptions, and four rushing touchdowns. While Nix has had a strong rookie season, the strength of the Broncos is their defense. They recorded 63 sacks this season, the most in the NFL. They also feature lockdown cornerback Pat Surtain II, who is one of the favorites for Defensive Player of the Year. The Broncos last played the Bills in Week 11 of the 2023 season. Denver won 24-22, with the Broncos kicking a last-second field goal as time expired. The Broncos got a second chance at the kick when the Bills had 12 players on the field goal when Dever missed the kick the first time around. The Bills have won their last four Wild Card playoff games, losing in the divisional round each of the last three years.
