MPD: Armed man charged after threatening 2 people, damaging property

WASHINGTON (DC News Now) -- The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) said a man was arrested after threatening two people with a gun and damaging property on Jan. 3 in Northwest D.C.
Police responded to the 5900 block of Georgia Avenue for the report of a man with a gun.

The victim said the suspect went into the business and threatened two people with a gun. The suspect then allegedly damaged property inside the establishment and left the area.
Soon after, officers saw the suspect and stopped him.
After he was identified, police arrested and charged Maurice Hughes, 42, with assault with a dangerous weapon (Gun) and destruction of property-felony.
