CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) - On Sunday in Chicopee, the Diocese of Springfield continued its observance of the 2025 Jubilee year.
Holiday gift returns are expected to surge in January
During a special Mass, Bishop William Byrne visited Saint Stanislaus Basilica to formally designate it as a pilgrimage site, where pilgrims can receive special graces after prayer, confession and receiving the Eucharist.
The 'Jubilee year' is a special year said to occur every 50 years in the Catholic church. It is said to be a year of reconciliation, hope, and spiritual renewal.
Other cathedrals have been designated locally as special places of prayer, including Saint Michael's Cathedral in Springfield and the Dominican Nuns Adoration Chapel in West Springfield.
