MINOT, N.D. (KXNET) — Members of the Minot Fire Department (MFD) rushed to the scene of a house fire on the evening of Saturday, January 4, after its floor caught fire. According to a press release from the MFD, at approximately 10:19 p.m., firefighters were sent to 320 8th Street Northwest in Minot, after they received a report of smoke filling the basement of a home. Upon arriving at the scene, firefighters located the blaze in the floor joists, and quickly put it out before overhauling the area and ventilating the building. Minot Police Chief investigation update In total, three engine companies, two trucks, and a command unit responded to the incident. The fire was eventually noted to have been caused by hot embers, which escaped the home's wood-burning fireplace and ignited the floor's void space.
