The Browns, barring a trade, will have the second pick in the 2025 NFL Draft on April 24. The Browns entered the last weekend of the regular season with a 3-13 record and the third pick. The Patriots, Titans and Giants also were 3-13. The Ravens beat the Browns, 35-10, on Jan. 4. The Patriots beat the Bills, the Texans beat the Titans and the Eagles beat the Giants on Jan. 5.. The end result, after sifting through tiebreakers based on strength of schedule, is the Titans (3-14) pick first. The Browns, also 3-14, pick second and the 3-14 Giants pick third. The Patriots had the first pick before the weekend began, but they improved to 4-13 by upsetting the Bills, 23-16. The Patriots will pick fourth. The Browns want to improve at quarterback. The Titans must decide whether they want to stick with quarterback Will Levis or move on from him. The first pick would be a valuable commodity in trade if the Titans decide not to use it on a quarterback. They could trade it to the quarterback-needy Giants for a bountiful return, which would allow the Giants to leapfrog over the Browns. Cam Ward from the University of Miami (Fla.) and Shedeur Sanders of Colorado are deemed the only two quarterbacks worthy of being taken in the first round, according to most draft analysts. The Browns went into the 2016 draft with the second pick by finishing 3-13 in 2015. They traded the pick to the Eagles for the eighth, 77th and 100th pick in 2016 plus the Eagles’ first-round pick in 2017 and a second-round pick in 2018. The Eagles used the pick on quarterback Carson Wentz, who helped them win the Super Bowl in the 2017 season. It is not easy to follow the trail of what the Browns did with the picks acquired from the Eagles, but they traded down again in the first round in 2016, sending the eighth pick to the Titans (the Titans drafted offensive tackle Jack Conklin) for the 15th pick, which the Browns used on wide receiver Corey Coleman. The Browns had the second pick in 1991 after finishing 3-13 in 1990 and used it on safety Eric Turner. Turner played five seasons with the Browns and remained with the franchise when it was moved to Baltimore in 1996. He played for the Raiders from 1997-1999. He died of stomach cancer at the age of 31 in 2000. The Browns have eight picks in addition to their first-round choice. They have their own pick in rounds two, three, four and six, a third-round pick from the Bills, a fifth-round pick from the Lions plus a sixth-round pick from the Bears and a sixth-round pick from the Vikings.
