PORTERVILLE, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - An 85-year-old woman from Porterville has been arrested after allegedly hitting a pedestrian with her car and fleeing the scene, the California Highway Patrol said Friday. According to officials with the California Highway Patrol, Fresno's CHP communications center received calls of a male pedestrian struck by a car in the area of Highway 190 just east of Highway 65 around 4:14 p.m. on Jan. 2. The vehicle was reported to be traveling at an undetermined speed. CHP officers responded to the scene and an investigation indicated that an 85-year-old woman was driving a 2012 Audi A4 while the pedestrian crossed the westbound lane of Highway 190. CHP says the Audi then struck the pedestrian. Officials say the Audi did not stop at the scene and continued westbound along Highway 190. The pedestrian was transported to Sierra Medical Center and later pronounced deceased. Officials say the Audi was located near Poplar Avenue and South Prospect Street shortly after. According to CHP, officers contacted the driver of the Audi, and the driver was subsequently arrested. Alcohol or drugs were not a factor in this crash.
