MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Two steakhouses in the Mid-South topped Southern Living's "Most Legendary Steakhouses" list.
Folks Folly, or "Memphis' Original Prime Steak House" on South Mendenhall Road was noticed for its history and options. According to Folks Folly, Native Memphian Humphrey Folk Jr. converted a small house into a steakhouse 45 years ago, and his sons have carried on the restaurant's legacy.
The Memphis steakhouse offers at least seven different cuts of meat and more than a dozen ways to enhance your steak -- from truffle butter to crabmeat bearnaise.
A Mississippi steakhouse was next on the list.
Marshall Steakhouse in Holly Springs was noted for its charcoal-grilled steaks and the Marshall Challenge. If you finish a 72-ounce sirloin, six-breaded shrimp, a large loaded baked potato, a salad, and bread in an hour, your meal is free.
The lodge-style restaurant offers at least 7 different cuts of meats and is located on Highway 178 West.
Buckley's Grill was also listed as a "legendary" steakhouse, but the Memphis restaurant closed its doors in June of 2024.
