VB Mayor Bobby Dyer proposes notice of breach for SITW organizers
Jan 03, 2025
VIRGINIA BEACH, (WAVY) - The battle between Something in the Water organizers and the City of Virginia Beach is going strong into the new year.
Just a few days after festival organizers asked the city for an extension, Virginia Beach Mayor Bobby Dyer proposed the city sends a "notice of breach" for not having the ticket sales and lineup announced by the Dec. 31 deadline.

The deadline was originally implemented as part of several conditions in order for the city to financially support the festival, after the festival was abruptly postponed from this past October until April 26 and 27 of 2025.

The proposed notice will give the festival organizers just five days to reveal a lineup and to start selling tickets.
If organizers fail to meet this new deadline, the agreement between SITW and the City of Virginia Beach will be terminated, and the city will explore alternative programming during the time the festival was supposed to have taken place.
SITW organizers did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Virginia Beach leaders are expected to meet on Jan. 7 to discuss the proposal.
