AUSTIN (KXAN) — To mark its 50th year of service, Williamson County Emergency Medical Services, or WCEMS, said it would hold several events that will be spread throughout 2025. The first event will be a blood drive with We Are Blood on Jan. 8 at Williamson County’s North Campus building, located at 3189 SE Inner Loop in Georgetown. At the start of 2025, the department said it had 177 employees with 25 vehicles that can respond to emergencies. “Reaching 50 years of service is a testament to the dedication, innovation and teamwork that have defined our department and the support of our county leaders,” said Emergency Medical Services Director Mike Knipstein. “As we celebrate these 50 years, we honor our history and remain committed to our mission to provide pre-eminent care that is enhanced by education and research.” The department’s “golden anniversary” will be recognized during the Jan. 7 Commissioners Court meeting, according to the county. Other 2025 events include: CPR classes throughout the year 5K at River Ranch County Park in the fall Trunk or Treat event featuring first responder vehicles on Oct. 18
