Georgia Tech, won a third consecutive game on Saturday, defeating visiting Boston College 85-64. The victory was the largest margin of victory in the Damon Stoudamire era and the first time Tech had two players with 20 points during that span. The Yellow Jackets (8-7 overall, 2-2 in ACC) are not only above .500 with the victory, but .500 in the Atlantic Coast Conference. Next up for the Jackets are road games at Syracuse on Jan. 7 and in Dallas, Texas at SMU on Jan. 11. Tech guards Nathan George (left) and Lance Terry lead the team to victory with 10 assists and 20 points, respectively. The scoring would balance itself out a bit after Tech took a 14-11 lead following a drunk from freshman Ibrahim Souare (team-high four blocks). Georgia Tech went on a scoring blitz that helped the home team hold a double-digit lead for the remainder of the first half. Seniors Duncan Powell and Javian McCollum (20 points for the game) led the way during the first half with each tallying 11 points.Terry, who opened the second half with a steal and dunk, also drew a charge at the 13:40 mark. Yellow Jackets head coach Damon Stoudamire has called Terry the glue of this year’s team and over the past three games, Terry’s leadership on both sides of the ball has done wonders for the team’s overall confidence. The victory over Boston College was Tech’s second consecutive in the conference after defeating Notre Dame on New Year’s Eve. The Yellow Jackets’ would go up as much as 20 points midway through the half after Ndongo scored his 10th point of the game in the paint courtesy of a Nathan George pass. A McCollum three-pointer and Jaeden Mustaf drive to the basket on consecutive trips gave Tech a 70-47 advantage with nine minutes remaining in the game. Boston College would work to get the lead under 20 points behind several baskets from senior big man Chad Venning, but turnovers would hurt the Eagles’ efforts. If there was something Stoudamire and this staff may have had an issue with during the game it was how Tech shot its free throws. The Yellow Jackets were 15-27 from the line on Saturday. On the other hand, the Yellow Jackets were 8-7 from three-point range. “If you’re making shots like that you’re putting strain on the opposing defense,” Stoudamire said.Boston College men’s head basketball coach Earl Grant. Asked how he has been getting into such a good rhythm of late, George said it is easy with as many good shooters as the Yellow Jackets have.“It feels good. The spacing has been really good and I say that’s making it easy to get as many assists as I have been getting,” George said.Boston College head coach Earl Grant credited Tech’s length and seniors McCollum and Grant for the early lead. “We’re not as bad as we played,” Grant said during his postgame press conference. The post Georgia Tech wins third in a row, second straight ACC game, 85-64 over BC appeared first on The Atlanta Voice.
