ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) – Wednesday marked the eighth and final night of Hanukkah. One last menorah lighting took place at Mendon Town Hall in Honeoye Falls. (WROC/Melanie Sosa) Rabbi Yitzi Hein of the Chabad of Pittsford told News 8 that the eighth night is the culmination of the small acts of light over a period of time. He said, it's like doing a good deed and wondering if it actually was good but then seeing the results later on. He also spoke of the evolution these menorah lightings have seen. "I don't think anybody imagined that the public menorah phenomenon would take off so lightly. One of the senior Chabad Rabbis did it there as a small ceremony and the following year they did it in San Francisco and did it there with a giant 20-foot menorah," said Rabbi Yitzi Hein. "Since then, it's gone all over the world." Rowe legacy retires with new changes to Scott’s Photo by Rowe Thursday at sundown Hanukkah ends. For 2025, Hanukkah will start again Dec. 14 and end Dec. 22.
