Officers were prepared for the influx of calls that usually come in during the city's New Year's celebrations. "We receive a lot of fireworks calls or shots fired calls, a lot of driving while intoxicated or fights in progress calls as well," says Deputy Chief Cecily Barker.
During Tuesday night's special operations, they stopped 156 vehicles and issued 369 citations. Four drivers were arrested and charged with DWI. One driver was arrested for misdemeanor warrants and one person was arrested for negligent use of a firearm after they attempted to stop a drunk driver from fleeing by firing rounds into the air.
