After a system brought light snow to the area Thursday night, lake effect snow showers have lingered throughout our Friday... Continue to watch out for slick roadways and reduced visibilities before daybreak Saturday. After sunrise though, we should see the lake effect snow taper off. Winds will continue to gust up to 25 mph, resulting in wind chills tumbling into the single digits by daybreak. Stay warm! Snow showers continue overnight. We dry out by daybreak Saturday, with lows generally in the teens. It will feel as cold as the single digits to perhaps below zero early Saturday morning. Winds will remain elevated on Saturday, with gusts up to 30 mph at times keeping wind chills in the single digits all day long. The good news though is we'll gradually tap into sunshine from southwest to northeast during the afternoon, so you can look forward to this. Actual air temperatures will only rise into the lower 20s. Clouds decrease into our Saturday afternoon.High temperatures only reach the lower 20s at most.Wind chills only get as high as the single digits for most areas on Saturday. Then we turn our attention to a more significant weather system taking shape. While most of the daytime hours Sunday will be dry, accumulating snow remains possible Sunday night into Monday morning in our area. We're dry during the daytime hours on Sunday.Wind chills start off the day generally in the single digits.Highs reach the mid-20s Sunday.Winds will be lighter on Sunday, making wind chills less of a factor. The best chances for accumulating snow will be in our southern counties. You should plan on at least some impacts to your Monday morning commute, especially south of Fort Wayne. In far southern areas, 2 to 4 inches of snow are possible and the greatest impacts will occur here. For Fort Wayne and the central part of our area, up to three inches of snow could fall, but this is where the greatest uncertainty lies; there could be a sharp cutoff between multiple inches of snow and not much snow at all somewhere in this area. Northern areas, on the other hand, look to see very little snowfall accumulation. Our southern areas will see the most snow, with the greatest uncertainty lying in our central counties. This is a developing system and the forecast can change, so stay tuned for updates. Odds are the heaviest snow/ice from this system will stay in central/southern Indiana, but we'll keep you up to speed on any changes to the track of the system. After Monday, we're cold through the rest of the week, with highs still in the 20s. Bundle up! Morning: Mostly cloudy with scattered lake effect snow showers.
