HAGERSTOWN, Md. (DC News Now) -- A downtown start-up venture is bringing some excitement to Hagerstown.
The building which has housed the city's farmers' market for most of the past century is being converted into a a brewpub and distillery.
The farmers' market is relocating to the Hagerstown fairgrounds as entrepreneurs Jake and David Blackmon launch their new concept for the spacious municipal market space.

"This building has a ton of history," Jake Blackmon said. "Everyone has memories of this space."
"We're really looking to energize downtown and draw off the Maryland Theatre, a beautiful venue," David Blackmon said. "The restaurants there are only a couple blocks away and we're trying to build a cohesive group of businesses."
A new baseball park has already helped revitalize downtown and Jessica Givens anticipates the ample space will double as a music venue, like the start-up Hub City Vinyl on Baltimore Street has successfully done.
"I think it's a fun, community-based space," she said. "I think everyone needs a place to go. I think it's going to bring a little extra something, you know?"
