Lowcountry families welcome first (local) babies of the new year

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – Three babies born in the Lowcountry after the clock struck midnight are now among the first born in 2025.
The team at MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital welcomed baby girl Aaliyah at 12:01 a.m. on January 1st to parents Chardé and William of Charleston.

The newborn weighed 7 pounds, 2.1 ounces, and was 19.68 inches long.
Summerville Medical Center welcomed the second baby, Arlo, at 12:22 a.m.

Baby Arlo, born to parents Jantzen and Morgan, was 21.3 inches long and weighed 7 lbs and 15.3 ounces.
The third reported baby born in the new year happened down in Bluffton at Coastal Carolina Hospital. Parents Anthony and Taylor welcomed Baby Maisie at 9:16 a.m. She was 8 lbs, 10 ounces, and 21 inches.
