WASHINGTON (DC News Now) -- Preparations are underway at The Omni Shoreham Hotel in Northwest, as "Things To Do DC" gears up to host its annual New Year’s Eve celebration with an international twist. Greg Bland, CEO of Things To Do DC and the event's lead organizer, emphasized the event’s goal of creating an environment filled with enjoyment and celebration. “I want people to come here and enjoy themselves tonight, put their resume aside," Bland said. "So tonight’s your opportunity; regardless of what your job is, regardless of what your profession is, your ambitions are, you’re coming here to have a good time." A night like no other, the event will offer guests a unique journey through various continents with immersive experiences representing the Americas, Europe and Asia.  “We’re going to have a Mexican dance presentation,” said Bland. “We’re going to have all sorts of unique entertainment, caricatures, and walk-around Cirque performers.”  New Year’s Eve events happening across the DMV But the night won’t just be about entertainment. For many, including DJ Pumpkin (who will perform), the event is about reflection and new beginnings.  "Tonight is about celebration. Tonight is about ‘you’ve been through so much in your life and the last year especially,’ so you come out tonight to start a new beginning," said DJ Pumpkin.  The celebration presents an opportunity not only for new beginnings but also for guests to take center stage, according to Bland. “Some people want to jump into karaoke and be the star of their own show, you know, so you have the opportunity," said Bland. "You can go along for the ride, or you can be the one that actually runs the wave machine." The event kicks off at 9 p.m. and will run until 2 a.m.
