Live tonight: Fireworks and The Jacksons set to welcome 2025 at Lone Star NYE
Dec 31, 2024
DALLAS (NEXSTAR) -- We're just hours away from the most spectacular fireworks show in the Central time zone as we usher in 2025 for New Year's Eve!
The main event of the broadcast will be the remarkable, nonstop, 10-minute fireworks show that will illuminate the Dallas city skyline at midnight. The show includes breath-taking panoramic fireworks with more than 5,000 pyrotechnic special effects fired from 560 feet above ground atop Reunion Tower.
The tower itself, meanwhile, is covered with 259 LED lights that will display thousands of unique designs and patterns during the show.
You'll be able to watch the broadcast in the video player at the top of this story.
Before and after the fireworks, you'll be entertained by two members of the iconic Jackson 5 pop band. Marlon and Jackie Jackson are the headliners of the group “The Jacksons,” performing a list of hits like “ABC” and “I Want You Back.”
The Jackson 5, among the last of the major groups launched through Berry Gordy’s Motown empire, included teenage and pre-teen brothers Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, Marlon, and lead singer Michael. “I Want You Back” was the group’s breakthrough hit. The Jacksons followed with three more No. 1 songs, “ABC,” “The Love You Save,” and “I’ll Be There,” and also hit the top 5 with “Mama’s Pearl” and “Never Can Say Goodbye.”
“Lone Star NYE 2025” will broadcast across the state of Texas, as well as affiliates in Oklahoma, Louisiana, Arkansas, Kansas, and Missouri.
The music gets started at 11:30pm and the fireworks begin just before midnight. Drones were originally scheduled to be part of the show but were grounded following an accident earlier this month in Florida. The program will be hosted by KARK anchor D.J. Williams and KXAS anchor Katy Blakey.
