EL CAJON, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) -- An 11-year-old martial arts student was taken off life support Sunday after he was struck by a car just days before Christmas.
According to a GoFundMe page set up by his Pure Heart Muay Thai coach, James Gregory, 11-year-old Kevin Ouda was reportedly hit by a vehicle while jogging with the team on Saturday, Dec. 21.
He was then transported to Rady Children's Hospital in San Diego with head trauma and underwent emergency surgery to relieve pressure on his brain, the GoFundMe reads.

Despite the medical team's efforts, Kevin was placed on life support with a ventilator on Dec. 22. He succumbed to his injuries Sunday, Dec. 29, according to an Instagram post on the Pure Heart Muay Thai account.
"Kevin's family made the decision to let Kevin be at peace in heaven with God today," it reads.
As of Monday, more than $25,000 in donations have been raised for the family, surpassing the $10,000 goal.
