Albuquerque man pleads guilty to role in July 2023 murder

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) An Albuquerque man is facing prison time for his role in a July 4th murder case. Juan De La Rosa pleaded guilty Monday morning to a July 2023 shooting. He and two accomplices were accused of trying to carjack Alfonso Aguilar at the Luxury Inn near Central Ave. and Louisiana Blvd. Surveillance footage showed de la Rosa, Lacey Comrier, and Joseph Griego approaching the victim, Alfonso Aguilar, who was shot in the chest. Aguilar died in the hospital days later.
Death under investigation in Santa Fe County
De La Rosa pled guilty to four counts including second-degree murder and armed robbery. but that plea almost got postponed on Monday after prosecutors questioned if de la Rosa understood what he was pleading to. Judge Joseph Montaño ultimately accepted the plea. De La Rosa now faces up to 24 years behind bars. He'll be sentenced in the next four weeks.
