USPS to honor New Orleans musician Allen Toussaint with stamp

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The United States Postal Service is set to recognize the legacy of a New Orleans musician with a new stamp.
USPS officials said the 48th stamp in its Black Heritage series will include New Orleans-born musician and songwriter Allen Toussaint.

Toussaint is known for his contributions to R&B, jazz and rock 'n' roll music, as well as his songs "Fortune Teller" and "Southern Nights."

A news release states Toussaint was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1998, the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame in 2009, the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2011 and the Blues Hall of Fame in 2012.

Toussaint also has a street, Allen Toussaint Boulevard, named after him.
Toussaint died in 2015 at the age of 77 while on tour in Madrid.
