State police said their preliminary investigation indicated a vehicle was traveling on the highway when, for unknown reasons, it began to cut across the lanes. At one point, the vehicle was struck by oncoming traffic.
State police said the crash caused a domino effect and six vehicles were involved in the wreck.
Medics took two people to the hospital. Their conditions are unknown, as of Thursday morning.
As a result of the crash, all lanes on I-70 West were shut down for more than an hour as crews worked on the scene. However, all lanes on the Interstate are now open to traffic.
The crash remains under investigation.
