BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- Celebrate 2025 with a Polar Bear Plunge at two locations in the Bakersfield area. Community members can go down to the activity pool at the McMurtrey Aquatic Center to slide down the slide into the icy water and then swim 25 yards. Participants can also just hop into the water, according to organizers. The Blessing Corner’s Christmas extravaganza serves over 500 meals, distributes gifts Once the 25 yards are completed participants can get a cup of hot chocolate. The Polar Bear Plunge is set from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the McMurtrey Aquatic Center on Q Street on Jan. 1, 2025. The price to plunge is $5 and if you would like a sweatshirt, youth sweatshirts are $25 and adult sweatshirts are $30. Community members can also go to Bakersfield College for the Polar Bear Plunge Fundraiser. The plunge is set for Jan. 1, 2025 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the swimming pool located at Bakersfield College on Panorama Drive.
