(BCN) -- A man was arrested in the town of Corte Madera last week on suspicion of shoplifting, being a felon in possession of a weapon and for possession of drugs, according to police. At about 9:30 p.m. Friday, Central Marin Police Authority officers responded to a disturbance at a grocery store in Corte Madera. A store employee reported a man screaming, making threats and had possibly also stolen merchandise. Police made contact with a 48-year-old man from Dublin who matched the description given by the employee. Officers interviewed store employees and witnesses about the possible crimes committed. Police said they determined probable cause existed to arrest the man for criminal threats and shoplifting. Extremely drunk driver flips family’s car in Cotati: PD Two days before that, Proposition 36 took effect, which allows for law enforcement to add additional charges if an offender has a prior history of theft convictions and are picked up on a new theft case. The suspect was determined to have had prior theft convictions and was booked into the Marin County Jail on suspicion of petty theft with priors, making criminal threats, shoplifting and being a felon in possession of a stun gun. Police also allege he had illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia. The suspect is being held on $50,000 bail and was still in custody Wednesday evening. Copyright © 2024 Bay City News, Inc.
