[1] Video: BCSO wakes up driver accused of being under the influence - A new video shows the moments Bernalillo County Sheriff's Office deputies found a driver passed out in her car on the side of the freeway. The car was also still in drive. On December 5, deputies responded to reports of a reckless driver on I-25 near Rio Bravo. They found 35-year-old Janice Apodaca passed out in the driver's seat. Deputies banged on the driver-side window to try and wake her up, but she didn't budge. That is until they blow an air horn. Apodaca is now facing charges of reckless driving and aggravated DWI.
[2] The end of the ‘Rust’ criminal case against Alec Baldwin may unlock a civil lawsuit - Relatives of "Rust" cinematographer Halayna Hutchins say they are planning to move forward with a civil lawsuit against actor Alec Baldwin for her death. The Hollywood star was on trial earlier this year after a gun he handled on set went off, killing the Ukrainian cinematographer. The judge dismissed the case with prejudice over evidence in the case. On Tuesday, attorneys for the parents and sister of Hutchins say they will be moving forward with their suit for damage and compensation, regardless of the appeal withdrawal.
[3] Light showers tonight and warmer weather this weekend expected across New Mexico - Parts of New Mexico saw a White Christmas on Wednesday and may see more snowfall on Thursday. However, by the weekend. the state will be warming up and drying out.
[4] Nonprofit in Nob Hill could face closure, asking for help - A Nob Hill nonprofit is looking to the community for help as organizers say their building is falling into disrepair and taking a toll on their budget. The Black Cat Community and Cultural Center was founded in 2020. It offers space for dancers, thespians, musicians and other creatives at little to no cost. The organization opened in the 80-year-old Hendren Building. They say, four years later the problems keep piling up.
[5] Albuquerque Fire Rescue ranks top 10 photos of the year - As 2024 comes to an end, the Albuquerque Fire Rescue is ranking the "hottest" shots of fires their crews fought this year. Earlier this month, AFR called on the community to send in photo submissions of their crews in action. At No. 7, is a photo of the Wash Tub fire that broke out in February.
