EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — Ready to dip into the new year with a splash? The El Paso County Parks and Recreation Department invites the community to their "Plunge into 2025" event. The unique family-friendly event will happen from 12 to 1 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 27 at the Ascarate Aquatic Center, located at 6900 Delta Dr. Participants can sign up for the plunge right at 12 p.m. at the aquatics center. According to the news release by the County, the dive into cold water symbolizes "a refreshing and invigorating start to the new year." Guests are encouraged to wear a swimsuit or a costume to make the event even more memorable. The County also requests participants to bring warm clothes to change into after the dip. Plunge into 2025 will also have a photo area for guests to use. The first 25 families to sign up for the event will receive a free gift and every participant will receive a voucher for a complimentary 30-minute swim lesson to use during the Spring 2025 Swim Marathon event, the County said. After the event, guests can stay at Ascarate for the "Lights on the Lake" drive-thru display that begins at 6 pm.
