SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- The Coronado shoreline has been added to the list of areas closed due to ongoing concerns about contaminated water flowing in from the Tijuana River, San Diego County said Wednesday.
According to the county's Department of Environment Health and Quality, the water contact closure has been extended to include the shoreline of Coronado until sampling and field observations determine the area is safe for water contact.

Beachgoers are advised not to come into contact with the ocean water because it contains sewage and may cause illness, the county said.
Other areas impacted by the closure due to the sewage flowing in from the Tijuana River include the ocean shoreline from the U.S.-Mexico Border to north of Silver Strand. This includes the Tijuana Slough, Imperial Beach and Silver Strand areas.
Meanwhile, the La Jolla Children's Pool remains under an advisory due to bacteria levels that have exceeded acceptable state health standards. However, a closure has not been issued for the children's pool.
