The lava is draining back into the vent and HVO said that started occurring at the same time that summit tiltmeters started recording inflation rather than deflation. The pattern was similar but more abrupt than the onset of the pause on Monday, December 23, that occurred between 3 and 4 p.m.," HVO said in their daily status report. This latest eruption lasted a little over 24 hours, which HVO said is twice the duration of the first eruptive episode.
