(COLORADO SPRINGS) — It's one of the busiest times of the year for some nonprofits, accepting donations and organizing drives while everyone's in the spirit of giving. While most efforts are over for the Christmas season, one local fundraiser is still going on. You might remember the organizer from our previous coverage. His name is Mark Ingles, and he's been collecting non-perishable food donations for the Care and Share Food Bank for about a month. With a garage full of food items to donate, Ingles said he's getting close to hitting his goal. "I would guess I probably have around, maybe 2,500 pounds of food at this point. So I only have about 500 pounds left to go for my goal. I would love to exceed the goal," said Ingles. "I'm seeing it as better this year, I think people are just wanting to give more. " Although Ingles has noticed more donations, Care and Share Food Bank said more and more people are needing help. "So many of our neighbors need help this time of year. The neat thing is that no matter if you're doing a small food drive, or a really big food drive, it all adds up at the end of the day," said Adam Uhernik with the food bank. "It's such a neat way to help our neighbors." While Ingles' food drive may be a bit more unique, drawing in donations with an elaborate light display, he said it's just his way of inspiring people to help others. "Christmas is always known as the season of giving. The reason I do the display is to give to the community, because I'm hoping that the beauty of it brightens their lives," said Ingles. "I think it also gives them an opportunity to give. So if they can do that, then that has truly met what the meaning of Christmas is all about. If we can do that together, that's wonderful. " The last day to donate to his drive is Jan. 4. His address is 4910 Nugent Drive in Colorado Springs, on the northeast side of the city, near Peterson and Barnes Roads. He turns on the lights around 4:30 p.m. and plays the music until about 10 p.m.
